Tiger Hills U15 A playing Rules

2026 Tiger Hills U15 Playing Rules - Updated 2025

 

1. All games start at 6:30 p.m. OUicial time will be announced after the plate meeting.

2. Games are 7 innings.

3. No new inning may start after 105 minutes unless both teams agree.

4. Nine players on defense.

5. Everyone bats.

6. Each inning ends after 3 outs or 6 runs.

7. Up to three overage players (one year older) may be used to bring the roster to a maximum of 12 players.

  • Overage players are not eligible for Provincials.
  • They may not pitch, catch, or play first base.
  • They must be announced at the plate meeting.

8. The 7th inning is an open inning. 

9. The dropped third strike rule applies as per Rule Book FP8-1(b):

  • The batter becomes a batter-runner when the catcher fails to catch the third strike before the ball touches the ground and
  1. there are fewer than two outs and first base is unoccupied, or
  2. there are two outs.

 10. The infield fly rule is in eUect.

 11. If a player is injured and cannot take their turn at bat, they are removed from the batting order for the remainder of the game unless the coach confirms they can continue before the next team at-bat.

  •  This does not result in an out unless the team drops below nine batters.
  •  If injured while batting, the player must reach first base on their own power; then the last out from the previous inning may run for them.

12. Stealing bases, including home, is allowed at all times.

13. Runners may lead off once the ball leaves the pitcher’s hand.

14. Unlimited substitutions are allowed.

15. A pitcher may pitch a maximum of 4 innings per game. One pitch thrown counts as one inning.

16. Pitchers must wear a pitching mask.

17. Batters and runners must wear helmets with a cage.

18. Official ball: 12inch outdoor softball.

19. Pitching and base distances follow the current MSA rulebook.

20. The home team supplies the umpires.

21. Teams are responsible for rescheduling their own games.

22. All other Manitoba Softball / Softball Canada rules apply.

 

ADDITIONAL RULES FOR LEAGUE TOURNAMENT PLAY

HOME TEAM: The higher ranked team will be considered the Home Team for all games up until a Final. All final games will use a coin toss will determine the Home Team.
SPEED OF PLAY: If a team is considered to be slow playing to maintain a lead, the Umpire will give the coach a warning. If the team continues to slow play and that team is on offense, they will receive an out. If the team is on defense, the next batter will receive 1st base.
TIE GAMES: In the event of a tie after the applicable time limit and less than the full innings have been played, play on as usual until the final 5th open inning has been played. If the game is still tied after 5 innings, extra innings will follow international rules which dictate that the last player out in the previous inning will start on 2nd base, with none out, for each additional extra inning. Pitcher limitations are waived for the extra innings and a pitcher’s innings resets; they can pitch up to three extra innings.
